Division is consistently implementing the general developing functions of the piano, since all the students of the Academy of Music are trained to play the instrument. The formation of the Division (before 1997 – the Division of General Piano) is inseparably linked with the pedagogic activities of famous Belarusian pianists G. Petrov, E. Tyrmand, E. Alterman, L. Besmertnaya and others. Presently, the Division, that comprises Professors of the Division B. Spector and B. Berger, Assistant Professors M. Akhverdova, I. Telepneva is engaged, alongside with the training work, in multifaceted musical-propaganda and upbringing activities (scientific conferences, competitions, concerts), and also in methodology work.
