Education: Belarusian State University, Faculty of Philology: 1999 – degree in the Russian language and literature, the Belarusian language and literature; 2000 – Master’s degree in the Russian language; Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank postgraduate degree  in the Russian language (2002)
Courses taught: Russian as a foreign language, the Belarusian language (professional terminology)


Svetlana Mashkantseva was born in Novopolotsk, Belarus.

In 2006/2007, she worked in the Department of Languages. Since 2017 she has been teaching in the preparatory department. She gave classes in Russian as a foreign language to master’s degree students and students of the preparatory department. She conducts training courses to prepare for graduate school as well as training courses during summer school at the Professional Development and Staff Retraining Faculty. Since 2022, she has been teaching the course “Belarusian Language. Professional Terminology”.

Svetlana Mashkantseva is the participant of international and national conferences and seminars. She has brought out a number of methodological materials as well as reviewed, and (co-)written student books and syllabi:

  • Syllabus “Russian as a foreign language” of the higher education institution for foreign students of the preparatory department for the group of specialties 16 01 Musical Art, specialties 1-16 80 01 Musical Art (2020);
  • Syllabus of training courses “Russian Conversational Speech. Language course for professional purpose” (2020);
  • Syllabus of the training course “Russian as a Foreign Language Course to prepare for admission to graduate school” (2020);
  • Syllabus of training course “Correctional lexical and grammatical intensive course of speech practice and reading” (2021);
  • Syllabus of the training course “Designing research work for foreign citizens who prepare for admission to graduate school” (2021);
  • We speak Russian everywhere: a handbook for foreign students of the preparatory department (Belarusian State Academy of Music, 2021);
  • The Russian language in tables and diagrams: a guide for international students (2022).

She assists foreign students in participating in scientific conferences, e.g: “Russian female poetry of the XX century and music” (Belarusian State Academy of Music, 2006), “The first step in science” (Belarusian National Technical University, 2022).  She organizes literary readings and visits to museums and exhibitions.

Research interests: information technologies in education, development of communicative competences, language picture of the world.
