It was the idea of Professor P. Tikhonov , head of solo singing department that encouraged the Opera Studio foundation in 1939.
The opera studio aims at preparing vocal art students for professional opera performances, as well as organizing training for students of the Orchestra Faculty. The first head of the Opera Studio was Professor A. Shperling (1867–1943), who got her music education in Italy.
In the first post-war years, the musical and stage training of vocal art students was carried out by conductors I.Githarts, R.Rubinshtein, S. Ratner; directors S.Kapar, Honored Artist of the BSSR Yu. Uzhentsev, People’s Artist of the BSSR and Honored Artist of the Armenian SSR N.Serdobov. Acting was taught in the class of the senior teacher of the Opera Training Department D.Rumyantsev, stage speech and make-up was taught by the actress of the Yanka Kupala Theater, People’s Artist of the BSSR Z.Brovarskaya.
After the war, the work of the opera studio was resumed in 1960 and since then, it is interconnected with the activities of the Opera training Department. The following people contributed a lot to the enhancement of the Opera Studio:
