Vladimir Skorokhodov was born in Klimovichi (Mogilev region, Belarus) in 1939.

In 1963 graduated from Belarusian State Conservatory named after A.Lunacharsky and was sent to work as an artist of Symphony Orchestra of the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Opera and Ballet of BSSR. Then worked as a teacher, vice-rector of Minsk State Music School named after M.Glinka, the head of the Department of Educational Institutions, Scientific Institutions and Personnel in the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, vice-Minister of the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, counselor of the Belarusian Embassy in Lithuania; rector of Belarusian State Institution of Issues with Culture. Since 1976 was a part-timer of Belarusian State Academy of Music, since 2005 as a full time worker. He is Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Belarus, PhD in Philosophy, Doctor of Culture History, Professor.

For the years of work V.Skorokhodov made a great contribution into formation and development National Performing School. The result of his activity is creating his own school. Nowadays his students (Associate Professor I.Brichikov and senior teacher E.Shimanovich) work with their teacher in the Academy of Music. In his class V.Skorokhodov trained more than 50 graduates of the academy of music. Many students became laureates. Among thse:

  • Vakulenko is a piano accompanist of clarinet group of Symphonic Orchestra of the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Opera and Ballet of the Republic of Belarus, 3rd degree laureate of the 1r prize donate. (Tambov, Russia). 1st degree laureate of International festival for gifted performers of woodwind instruments (Minsk, Belarus, 1994).
  • Shimanovich is a piano accompanist of clarinet group of Symphony Orchestra of Academic Musical Theatre of the Republic of Belarus, 2nd degree laureate of International Competition named after E.Coca (Kishinev, 2004), 1st degree laureate of International Competition of youth woodwind instruments performers named after Dm.Beda (Lvov, 2003), 3rd degree laureate of International Competition named after M.Spisak (Katowice, Poland, 2007), 1st degree laureate of International Competition of chamber ensembles (Kiev, 2011), Gran Prix and laureate title holder of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the support of talented youth (2007);
  • Dutsky 2nd degree laureate of International Competition of youth woodwind instruments performers named after Dm.Beda (Lvov, 2005), 3rd degree laureate of IV International Musical Competition of woodwind instruments “Jurmala 2008” (Riga, 2008), artist of Symphony Orchestra of the National Academic Big Theatre of Opera and Ballet of the Republic of Belarus, soloist of Guayaquil Philharmonic Municipal Symphony Orchestra (Ecuador), scholarship holder of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the support of talented youth;
  • Yaskelchik – 1st degree laureate, Gran Prix winner of XIV International Competition of young performers “Meeting Aivazovsky” (Feodosia, 2008), soloist of National Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus;
  • Loginov – 2nd degree laureate of International Competition of chamber ensembles named after M.Oginsky (Smorgon, Belarus, 2009), artist of Minsk Symphony Orchestra;
  • Telepnev – 1st degree laureate, Gran Prix Holder of International Competition of young performers “Surmy Bukovina” (Chernovtsy, 2008), 2nd degree laureate of All-Russian Competition of percussion and wind instruments young performers “Silver pipes” named after V.Blazhevich (Vladimir, Russia, 2009), ensemble soloist “Classic-Avant-Garde” of Belarusian State Philharmonic Society, scholarship holder of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the support of talented youth;

Created by Professor Skorokhodov, School of clarinet is well-known all over the world. His pedagogic mastery is especially popular in China. The good example is a range of students who became laureates of National and International Competitions:

  • Wang Bingquan – 1st degree laureate of International Festival-Competition “World Music” (Israel, Jerusalem, 2018); 1st degree laureate of International Competition of chamber ensembles named after M.Oginsky (Molodechno, Belarus, 2018); postgraduate student of Belarusian State Academy of Music;
  • Yang Siyuan – 2nd degree laureate of International Festival-Competition “World Music” (Israel, Jerusalem, 2019); 4th year student of Belarusian State Academy of Music.

V.Skorokhodov has written more than 80 scientific, educational-methodological and publicist works, published in scientific magazines and editions of Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Georgia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan. There are 3 monographs “Social dynamic of modern Belarusian culture”; “Art Culture in dynamic of social assimilation”; “Free time and culture” in which the covered issues are functioning of art culture, musical education and aesthetic upbringing of the youth, international cultural cooperation, development of modern methods of teaching performance of woodwind instruments. Under his scientific edition was published more than 30 scientific and educational-methodological editions.  He was a scientific supervisor of the range of state programs and projects in the field of culture and education.

The result of many years of pedagogic work of V.Skorokhodov is his books “Advice to my students” (2009), “Mastery of clarinetist. Teacher’s advice” (2012), “Master-class of Professor Skorokhodov” (2014), “Methods of teaching clarinet performance” (2022).

V.Skorokhodov is highly demanded reviewer. He wrote reviews on many monographs, articles and scientific works. V.Skorokhodov constantly cares about developing his pedagogic mastery. V.Skorokhodov is often invited as a jury member at national and international competitions. More than 50 years his creative talent is aimed at development of Belarusian culture. On July 22, 1997 he received a title “Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus”.

V.Skorokhodov is Honored Academic of International Academy of Sciences Eurasia (1995), member of International Organization of Folklore, member of World and European clarinetists association, member of Presidium of Belarusian Musical Workers Union.

For the great contribution to musical art he was awarded Certificates of Honor and breast mark from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, breast mark of Belarusian State Academy of Music, medal from Union of Musical Workers of the Republic of Belarus, order of honor “For special achievements in development of musical art” from Ukrainian National Academy of Music named after P.Tchaikovsky.
