Igor Komar was born on March 28, 1997 in Baranovichi, Belarus.

Since 2020, he has been working at the educational institution “Belarusian State Academy of Music” (since 2022 – teacher of the Composition Department, since 2024 – senior teacher of the Composition Department). In 2022-2025, he headed the Professional Development and Staff Retraining Faculty. Since 2025 – Dean of the Orchestra Faculty.

In 2018, within the framework of the European Credit Mobility Program “Erasmus+”, he studied at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. In 2023, he completed an internship at St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N. Rimsky-Korsakov. In 2024, he completed training at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus under the program “Digital Culture and Managerial Competencies”.

He is a laureate of more than 20 national and international composition competitions (including: II Republican Open Competition of Young and Adolescent Composers named after Yu. Semenyako (2nd degree Laureate; 2019, Republic of Belarus, Minsk), VII Competition of Young Composers in Memory of Alfred Schnittke and Svyatoslav Richter within the framework of the XIV Winter International Arts Festival in Sochi (2nd prize Laureate in the nomination “Piano Trio, Quartet or Quintet”; 2021, Russian Federation, Sochi) and others). He is a scholarship holder and participant of the VII International Music Academy (Department of Composition), held from February 17 to 24, 2022 as part of the XV Anniversary Winter International Arts Festival in Sochi (2022, Russian Federation, Sochi) and the XII International Academy of Young Composers in the city of Tchaikovsky, Perm Territory (2022, Russian Federation, Tchaikovsky).

The composer’s works are performed at prestigious contemporary music festivals, such as: 28th, 30th and 32nd “Međunarodnа tribina kompozitora” (2019, 2021, 2023, Republic of Serbia, Belgrade), “Composers’ Readings” of the Union of Composers of Russia (2019, Russian Federation, Moscow), “Lenten Concerts 2020. Reviving Cultural Traditions” (2020, Republic of Belarus, Minsk), the XXII festival “International Conservatory Week” (2022, Russian Federation, St. Petersburg), “Tramontana” (2022, 2024, Republic of Belarus, Minsk), “Music of Belarus” (2023, Republic of Belarus, Minsk), “Moscow Autumn” (2025, Russian Federation, Moscow).

He has conducted a number of master-classes in the Republic of Belarus and abroad: in the following federal state budgetary educational institutions of higher education – “Moscow State Conservatory named after P. Tchaikovsky” (March 27, 2023, Russian Federation, Moscow), “Petrozavodsk State Conservatory named after A. Glazunov” (April 18 and 21, 2023, Russian Federation, Petrozavodsk), “Saratov State Conservatory named after L. Sobinov” (May 13 and 15, 2024, Russian Federation, Saratov); and others. Recipient of a Letter of Gratitude from Moscow State Conservatory named after P. Tchaikovsky for conducting a lecture and a creative meeting with students and teachers of the conservatory, which aroused great interest and made the most favorable impression (dated April 3, 2023, No. 490).

He is the author of a number of articles in scientific journals in the field of sonorous composition technique. Takes an active part in international scientific conferences and competitions (total number is 25). Laureate of the XXIX Republican Competition of Students’ Scientific Works (01.10.2022–01.03.2023, Republic of Belarus, Minsk). Took part in the V International Congress of the Society of Music Theory “Genetic Communities of Music Theory: Genre, Style, Language in the Dynamics of History” (02.04.2024–04.04.2024, Russian Federation, Yekaterinburg), as well as the XVII Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (17–19.09.2024, Russian Federation, Ufa). Took part as an expert in the film about the state symbols of the Republic of Belarus “Cultural Code” (2024).

Scholarship holder (2019, 2019, 2020, 2021) and winner of a special prize (2023) of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for Social Support of Gifted Pupils and Students, as well as a scholarship holder and winner of an incentive prize of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for Support of Talented Youth (2019, 2022). Winner of the scholarship of the President of the Republic of Belarus for postgraduate students (2024). In 2019, he took part in the 1st Republican New Year’s Ball at the Palace of Independence. Winner of a special prize from the “Chant du Monde” publishing house (V. Shebalin Prize) of the 5th International Competition of Young Composers named after N. Myaskovsky, which was held at Moscow State Conservatory named after P. Tchaikovsky (2018, Russian Federation, Moscow). Member of the Board of the public association “Belarusian Union of Composers”.

The musician’s creative achievements were marked with gratitude from the rector of the educational institution “Belarusian State Academy of Music” (“For purposefulness in mastering the profession and efforts to support the high prestige of Belarusian State Academy of Music” (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022), “For achievements in scientific activities, personal contribution to the development of musical education in the Republic of Belarus, maintaining the high prestige of Belarusian State Academy of Music” (2024)).

He takes an active part in organizing and conducting scientific and creative events of the educational institution “Belarusian State Academy of Music”, aimed at developing students’ interest in scientific research activities, increasing creative activity and popularizing Belarusian musical culture.

Among his students are laureates of republican and international composer competitions: Ya. Soldatenko (Laureate of the 3rd degree of the 3rd Republican open competition of young and young composers named after Yu. Semenyako, Laureate of the 2nd prize of the First Union competition of composers (Russia-Belarus) for the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, etc.), O. Botsula (Laureate of the 2nd degree of the 5th International competition of composers among students, master’s students and postgraduates of various specialties of music universities “Fructus temporum”).
