Victor Voitik was born on September 3, 1947 in Grodno, Belarus.
Composer, Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus (1995).
Academic title “Associate Professor”(1997), “Professor” (2014).
Member of the Union of Composers (1974); member of the Belarusian Union of Music Workers (1995). Graduated from the Belarusian State Conservatory (1972) in the composition class of A.Bogatyrev, probation assistantship at the Moscow State Conservatory named after P. Tchaikovsky (1975) in the class of A. Leman.
He is laureate of the 1st degree of the All-Union Competition of Student Composers (Moscow, 1975), laureate of the Prize of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus in the field of music art (1995), laureate of the 2nd degree Prize of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for Social Support of Gifted Pupils and Students (2015).
He is also laureate of the festivals: “Music and Theatre” (Minsk, 1996), “Rostov Premieres” (2010), “Music Academies” (Warsaw, 2013).
In the Belarusian Union of Composers, he worked as an executive secretary, deputy chairman, chairman of the Belarusian department of the USSR Music Fund, and headed the department for the promotion of Belarusian music.
Currently – he is the chairman of the audit commission of the Belarusian Union of Composers. Member of the presidium of the public organization “Belarusian Union of Music Workers”.
Professor of the Composition Department of Belarusian State Academy of Music. Teaching experience since 1979: part-time teacher at the Orchestra Conducting Department, since 1988 – part-time teacher at the Composition Department. In 1990 – senior teacher at the Instrumentation, Arrangement and Score Reading Department. Associate Professor at the Instrumentation, Arrangement and Score Reading Department (1993), Professor at the Instrumentation Department (2005). Teaches composition (specialist), analysis of musical forms, instrumentation, score reading and analysis, arrangement. Supervises final qualification and master’s theses in composition and instrumentation.
He was awarded the following medals: “For Valiant Labor. In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of V.I. Lenin” (1971), Francysk Skaryna (2010); the Certificate of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR (1988), the Certificate of Honor of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus (1997) and the badge of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus “For Contribution to the Development of Culture” (2007).
