The Orchestra Faculty is the largest Faculty of the Academy of Music in terms of the number of students, as well as the number of specialties in which training is conducted. Students of the Orchestra Faculty already during their student years become concert musicians, perform in educational orchestral groups (Student Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Brass Band), Russian-Belarusian Orchestra conducted by Yu.Bashmet and chamber ensembles of various composition (Flute Ensemble “Impressions”, Flute Ensemble “Nymphs”, Saxophone Ensemble).
The Faculty staff has achieved high results, having brought up a galaxy of talented musicians-performers.
Graduates of the Orchestra Faculty are in demand in the leading cultural institutions of the Republic of Belarus: the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus, the Honored Collective of the Republic of Belarus “Musical Chapel “Sonorus”, the National Academic Folk Choir of the Republic of Belarus named after G.I.Tsitovich, the Honored Collective of the Republic of Belarus “Belarusian State Academic Musical Theatre”, the Honored Collective of the Republic of Belarus “Academic Ensemble of Song and Dance of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus”, the Belarusian Armed Forces Exemplary Band, the Belarusian State of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor Philharmonic Society, the National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus, other creative teams of the country, as well as music schools and colleges of the Republic.
Since the establishment of the Orchestra Faculty, its Deans have been: Professor of the Woodwind Instruments Department, Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Prof. Vladimir Budkevich; Professor of the Chamber Ensemble Department, Associate Professor Larisa Deduk; Associate Professor of the Brass and Percussion Instruments Department, Associate Professor Petr Dudarenko; Associate Professor of the Woodwind Instruments Department, Associate Professor Ivan Brichikov; Associate Professor of the Woodwind Instruments Department and the Orchestral Conducting and Instrumentation Department Maxim Rassokha. Since 2019, Maxim Shkulepa, Associate Professor of the Brass and Percussion Instruments Department, has been the Dean of the Orchestra Faculty.
