OLGA DADIOMOVA

Honorary Professor of Belarusian State Academy of Music


Belarusian musicologist. Doctor of Art History (2004). Professor (2007). Academician of Eurasian International Academy of Sciences (2005).

She was born on 5 August 1955 in Gomel, BSSR. Graduated Middle Special Music School of Belarusian State Conservatory named after V.Lunacharsky (1973), Belarusian State Conservatory (1978), postgraduate school of Art History, Ethnography and Folklore Institution named after K.Krapiva of Belarusian Academy of Sciences (1989). Worked in Institution of Culture (1978-1992), since 1993 – in Belarusian State Conservatory (Belarusian State Academy of Music) as Associate Professor, Professor, Head of the Belarusian Music Department (2005-2007).

The main merit of O.Dadiomova is scientific reconstruction of main stages of national music culture (till XX century), returning a significant amount of music-historical information to the context of cultural heritage of Belarus. Researcher has found and returned hundreds of music memorials and other historic-cultural materials that allowed conduction of large-scale scientific, methodological and art projects.

O.Dadiomova was first scientist to develop her own course ”History of music culture of Belarus till XX centuries” that became the main educational course for students of Higher Educational Art Institutions all over the country.

As the Head of the Leading Belarusian Studies Department of Belarusian State Academy of Music she made great organizing work on enforcing this structure, filling it with innovational projects, spreading it and Belarusian culture in Belarus and abroad.

O.Dadiomova created her own scientific school: under her leadership there were defended 6 theses, more than 20 graduate theses and diplomas.

Professor constantly performs as an expert and opponent of PhD and doctoral these, reviewer and editor of scientific publications.

O.Dadiomova takes part in significant international scientific forums (in Minsk, St.Petersburg, Smolensk, Volgograd, Vilnius, Warsaw, London etc.), in various including international projects. She is the author and representative of more than 50 TV shows, hundreds of radio shows. She developed concepts and held more than 1000 historic concerts in ancient centers of Belarus within the framework of more than 170 educational festivals in Belarus and abroad (in Minsk, Nesvizh, Mir, Zaslavl, Pinsk, London, Warsaw, Vilnius etc.).

Music memorials returned by O.Dadiomova from foreign countries, researched and commented on, became a part of the repertoire of leading art formations of the country. Hundreds of music compositions that presents ancient Belarusian music were performed by young musicians as well as leading formations and artists of the country: “Belarusian chapel” and National Academic Concert Orchestra of Belarus, National Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Opera and Ballet of the Republic of Belarus, ensemble of soloists “Classic-Avant-garde”, famous performers – I.Olovnikov, V.Dulov, Z.Kacharskaya, I.Shumilina, V.Skorobogatov, A.Korzhenevskaya etc.

A special role in the Belarusian musical art was played by the opera “Someone Else’s Wealth Does Not Serve Anyone” by the Nesvizh composer J. Holland, the score of which was found by O.Dadiomova, attributed, researched and transferred to the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus. The production of the opera received the Special Prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus in 2010.

 

O.Dadiomova worked fruitfully as the head of the scientific assignment of the State Program “Culture of Belarus” for 2011-2015 (project K-13), aimed at developing an innovative project on the history of Belarusian music.

For a long time, the Professor was a member and chairperson of the Council of Belarusian State Academy of Music for the defense of theses, a member of the Presidium of the Educational and Methodological Association (EMA) for education in the field of culture and art, a member of the expert commission of the Republican Institute of Higher Education (RIHE) and other structures, editorial boards of the journals “News BSAM”, “Mastatstva”, “LiM”. Actively collaborates with the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the “Belarusian Encyclopedia” and other publications, as well as with the international organization UNESCO.
