Born on 15 October , 1924 in the village of Pokrovskoye, Voronezh region, RSFSR. Graduated from the Gnessin State Musical Pedagogical Institute (1955) in the bayan class of V.Gorokhov, in the conducting class of A.Ivanov-Radkevich and A.Pozdnyakov. From 1966 to 2015, he worked at Belarusian State Conservatory named after A.Lunacharsky (Belarusian State Academy of Music): as an hourly teacher in the Folk Instruments Department (1966–1971), senior teacher (1967), Associate Professor of the Folk Instruments Department (1971), Professor of the Bayan and Accordion Department (1980). From 1973 to 1979 – Head of the Folk Instruments Department. He taught the following subjects: “Special Instrument”, “Ensemble”, “Conducting”, “Reading Score”, and teaching practice. He taught special courses “Methodology of Teaching Playing the Button Accordion” (1967–2003), “Theory and History of Performing Arts” (1970–2004). He supervised the writing of final qualifying works, and graduate students and probation assistants.
M.Solopov is the organizer of the Brest Orchestra of Folk Instruments (1950), the Brest City Symphony Orchestra (1950-1967), the University of Musical Knowledge in the Soviet Belarus collective farm (1965-1970), and the Brest Teachers’ Chapel Choir (1961-1963). He was repeatedly the chairman and member of the jury of republican, all-Union and international competitions of accordionists and bayanists. From 1975 to 1990, he led the theoretical seminar “Current Problems of the Development of Artistic Culture” for teachers of performance faculties. He headed the certification commission of the orchestral section of the Republican Scientific and Methodological Center (1975-1990), and was the organizer of the methodological commission for monitoring the educational process (1981-1990). During the 1980s and 1990s, he conducted an experiment in forms of creative music-making. He provided methodological assistance to teachers of the Children’s Music School (Children’s Music School), Special Educational Institutions and Higher Educational Institutions of the Republic of Belarus.

Awards. Orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st and 2nd degrees, 18 medals, including “For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945”, “For the Liberation of Warsaw”, “For the Capture of Berlin”, etc. He was awarded the Order of St. Cyril of Turov of the 1st degree (2009) and F. Skaryna (2011), the F. Skaryna medal (2000), badges of the USSR and the BSSR (15), Certificates of Honor of the Supreme Council of the BSSR (6), the Ministry of Culture of the USSR (4), the Ministry of Culture of the BSSR (8).
