Honorary rector of Belarusian State Academy of Music (2007)
Belarusian conductor, teacher and public figure. Honored Artist of the BSSR (1978). People’s Artist of the BSSR (1987). Member of the Presidium of the Board of the Belarusian Union of Musical Figures. Graduated from the Belarusian State Conservatory named after A.Lunacharsky (1965) in the bayan class of E.Lembovich; the Opera and Symphony Conducting department (1973) under the direction of V.Kataev and Ya.Voshchak.
Born on 18 May 1938 in the village of Tsintsevichi, Vileika District, Minsk Region, BSSR. In 1965-1968 – teacher at the Minsk College of Music, in 1968-1973 – teacher of the Folk Instruments, Opera and Symphony and Orchestral Conducting Departments of Belarusian State Conservatory. In 1972–1975 – conductor of the State People’s Orchestra of the BSSR, from 1975 to 2021 – artistic director and chief conductor of the National Academic People’s Orchestra named after I.Zhinovich. In 1985–2005 – Rector of Belarusian State Conservatory (Belarusian State Academy of Music).
Artistic director of the symphony orchestra “Young Belarus” of the Academy of Music (since 1991). Toured cities of Belarus and abroad (Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, India, Turkey). Gave concerts with the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus. Performed with famous singers and performers. Since 1998, he was the chairman of the board of the Foundation of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the support of cultural and artistic figures (1998).
Students. Among the students (over 20) are the honored cultural figure A. Palvinsky, laureates of republican competitions T. Belkova, S. Ostroga..
