Saxophone ensemble was created in Belarusian State Academy of Music in 2017 alongside with other ensembles because of holding annual festival “Days of wind and ensemble art of the Academy” at the Woodwind Instruments Department.
From the moment of formation the art student group actively participated in concerts of the Academy of Music as well as took part in various art projects on republican and international level: Easter festival “Joy”, Easter festival of the Academy, concerts of the Ministry of International Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, solo concert in the concert hall “Upper city”, city festival “Retro party”, performances in Belarusian State Philharmonic Society at the presentation of music collections for wind instruments of the composer A. Bezenson etc.
For the period of existence the art group has big repertoire list of compositions of different epochs and styles: from baroque to jazz music. Also repertoire includes works of Belarusian composers: E.Glebov, D.Smolsky, G.Wagner, E.Shimanovich, M.Korobkov, A.Bezenson etc.
The members of the ensemble are constantly changing, because it’s a student formation. The present members are:
— baritone saxophone – Dmitry Shuvalov, winner of the Grand Prix of the XII Republican art radio competition “Young Talents of Belarus” (2023), laureate of the 2nd degree of the XII International Competition of Chamber Music and Piano Ensembles “Duet Music” (2024), laureate of the 3rd prize of the International Festival of Classical Music Kustendorf CLASSIC (2024);
— alto saxophone – Mikhail Maksimuk, laureate of the 2nd degree of the II International Competition of Piano Performers KARELIA-BELARUS (2023);
— soprano saxophone – Artur Shakhkamyan;
— tenor saxophone – Anastasia Kravets, 2nd degree laureate of the 2nd International Piano Performers Competition KARELIA-BELARUS (2023), 2nd prize laureate of the 8th Open Department Competition of Chamber Ensembles named after Yu.F.Korsak (2023), 3rd degree laureate of the 12th Republican Creative Radio Competition “Young Talents of Belarus” (2023).
