Library of Belarusian State Academy of Music presents thematic exhibition “Let the Belarusian word sound”, dedicated to International day of mother tongue that is annually celebrated on February 21 that is aimed at language and cultural variety and multilingualism. Holyday was set by the decision of 30th session of General conference of UNESCO in November 1999.
There are a lot of amazing languages in the world that charm with their beauty, uniqueness and sweetness. But each person has only one language that could be called native. Our native Belarusian language is the language of Francisc Skoryna and Simon Budny, Maksim Bogdanovich and Yanka Kupala, Frantisek Bogushevich and Yakub Kolas, the language of our ancestors, the language of hundreds of talented people that will come to our earth.
With great honor and love our native language was treated by our compatriot, poet, interpreter, People’s poet of BSSR (1968), Honored Culture Worker of USSR (1973), laureate of State prizes of USSR (1946, 1949), State prize of BSSR named after Ya.Kupala (1970), laureate of prize of Lenin komsomol of Belarus (1968), cavalier of Order of Lenin (twice) Arcady Kuleshov, participant of the Great Patriotic war.
His name, classics of Belarusian literature of soviet epoch, is memorizes since childhood – through the poem “Komsomol ticket” and poem “Brigade banner” (in 1946 the poem was awarded State Prize of USSR).
He published about 30 poem editions. Many of poems of A.Kuleshov were translated into Ukrainian, Polish, Russian, English, Lithuanian, Armenian and even Mongolian languages. He translated poems himself. Thanks to A.Kuleshov we can read “Eugenie Onegin” by A.Pushkin, poems of M.Lermontov, S.Esenin, V.Mayakovsky and other Russian poets in Belarusian language.
A.Kuleshov also had straight attitude to the development of Belarusian cinema in Soviet time. He was the main editor of film studio “Belarusfilm” and took part in creation of scripts to the films: “Red leaves”, “First challenges”, “Let’s remember this day”.
The documentary film “Krai krinichy” (1972) was made based on life and art of A.Kuleshov. Many of songs of Belarusian composers are based on his poems.
Scientific, encyclopedic and manual editions, musical-critical and scientific articles, poetic editions of poems by A.Kuleshov, sheet music, scientific magazines and illustrational materials are represented at the exhibition.
Exposition is located in campus building №1 (International street, 30) in office №140 from January 31 till March 3, 2024.
