On February 21, the whole world celebrates International Mother Language Day. This holiday symbolizes mutual understanding, dialogue, patience and good neighborliness, as well as historical memory. Language is the main and primary custodian of our intangible cultural heritage, faith and art. There are currently over six thousand languages in the world. Half of them are in danger of disappearing. To preserve such languages, the UNESCO International Foundation has declared Mother Language Day. For our people, the native language is Belarusian.
