The Library of the Belarusian State Academy of Music presents a thematic exhibition “Oleg Khodosko – composer, teacher, creator”, prepared for the 60th anniversary of the composer’s birth (03/21/1964).
Oleg Khodosko – professor (2023), laureate of the All-Union competitions for student composers in Moscow (1985, 1987). Awarded the silver medal of the USSR Exhibition of Economic Achievements (1988). Winner of the Republican Prize “Golden Cupid” (2009). Laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus (2003). Winner of National Theater Awards (2011, 2021). Awarded a Certificate of Honor from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus (2022).
Graduated from Belarusian State Conservatory named after. A. Lunacharsky (1987) in the composition class of the People’s Artist of Belarus A.Bogatyrev and under his leadership Probation Assistantship (1989). Oleg Khodosko is one of the last students of Anatoly Vasilyevich, who highly valued his work.
He has been working at Belarusian State Academy of Music since 2000. Since 2004 – senior lecturer, since 2012 – Associate Professor of the Composition Department, since 2020 – Professor of the Composition Cepartment. Since 2023 – Head of the Department of Composition.
Oleg Khodosko is a member of the jury of various republican and international competitions, incl. International festival “Youth for the Union State” (Rostov-on-Don, Russia, 2009), Republican competition “The Star has shone over Belarus” (2010), Festival-competition of national choral music “Rekha” (2010), etc. And also a member Repertoire and Editorial Commission of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus. Participant in television and radio programs of Belarusian broadcasting. Since 1988 – member of the Belarusian Union of Composers.
Oleg Khodosko is the author of 2 operas (“The Shadow”, “The Black Monk”), 4 ballets (including “Cinderella”, “Waiting Room”), the musical “Shalom Aleichem! Peace be with you, people!”, 2 cantatas, symphonic, chamber-instrumental works, vocal and choral cycles, music for theater and cinema. O. Khodosko’s works are performed by leading groups in Belarus and abroad.
A landmark event was the world premiere of the symphony for a Capella choir “Missa” by Oleg Khodosko, performed at a concert at the Belarusian State Philharmonic performed by the State Academic Chapel named after. G. Shirma (2023). The new composition by the Belarusian author is an unusual genre mix of symphony and mass (in 6 parts).
The exhibition presents research essays on the life and work of O. Khodosko, articles from scientific works, collections and magazines, diploma works and master’s theses of students of the Academy of Music, music editions and sound recordings of the composer’s works.
The exhibition exposition is located in the foyer of the Great Hall of the educational building No. 1 (Internatsionalnaya St., 30) from March 19 to May 19, 2024.
