WIND INSTRUMENTS ORCHESTRA

The history of the formation begins with the beginning of the 50s of the XX century when the orchestra gathered for particular concerts. One of the first conductors of the orchestra was Z.Tanklevsky. Since 1965 wind orchestra became obligatory course in conservatory, the main aim of which was participation in graduation students exams on conducting class and it was headed by Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus B.Chudakov. Creative supervisors and conductors of the orchestra were: Professor A.Berin, Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus V.Babarikin, People’s Artist of the Republic of Belarus M.Bersan, Yu.Galias, A.Frolov.

From 2017 till 2023 the orchestra was headed by M.Rassokha. Since 2023 the orchestra is headed by A.Andreev.

Laureates of festivals and competitions:

  • Gran Prix of International competition of wind orchestras (Luxemburg, 1998);
  • 2nd prize laureate of IV All-Russian open festival-competition of wind orchestras “Vivat, student!” (Russia, Moscow, 2018);
  • Participant diploma of IV International Easter Festival (Belarus, Minsk, 2021);
  • Gran Prix of International festival-competition “Nordic Fest” (Finland, Helsinki, 2021).

Participant:

  • XXVII, XXVIII, XXIX International scientific readings commemorated to L.Mukharinskaya (Belarus, Minsk, 2018, 2019, 2020);
  • International scientific-practical conference to the 100th anniversary of People’s Artist of USSR, Professor V.Rovdo “Choir art in world music space” (2011);
  • concert tour on Belarusian cities within the frames of art project “Musical heritage of the Homeland” to the 90th anniversary of People’s artist of USSR and BSSR, Professor E.Glebov and the year of homeland, realized on the Grant of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the support of talented youth (2019);
  • musical project “Images of war and peace in the art of Belarusian composers” , realized on the Grant of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus (2020);
  • invited guest of children television competition “Talent of the country” (Minsk, 2019).

Many times orchestra toured in Europe. 2 CDs to the 100th anniversary were published and big concert programme to 75th anniversary of the Academy of Music was recorded on TV.

Orchestra holds concert activity in the Academy of Music as well as social and important events of the city and country.

The big attention in the repertoire police is paid to compositions written for wind orchestra especially works of national composers. The formation performed a range of world premieres of Belarusian authors’ compositions: Symphonette for wind orchestra and Suite for great wind orchestra “Comedy in episodes and face” by Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Belarus V.Voitik, Suite for wind orchestra “Cranes” by S.Yankovich. The orchestra was the first to perform Symphony for wind orchestra by P.Hindemith and Russian suite for concert wind orchestra by the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation G.Chernov in Belarus.
