He was born on January 11, 1961 in Grodno, BSSR.
Since 1989 he has worked at the Plucked String Percussion Folk Instruments Department of Belarusian State Conservatory. Since 2005 – as the Professor of Belarusian State Academy of Music.
He is laureate of VII All-Union competition of Estrada artists (Moscow, 1983), laureate of Republican competition of composers named after F.Skoryna (1991).
He is a concert performer that made 62 creative works (performances as soloist and ensemble player). He has fund recordings on Belarusian radio and television of author plays and arrangements of Belarusian folk songs, compositions of Belarusian and foreign composers.
Among graduates there are 19 laureates and diploma holders of international and national competitions (F.Volkov, V.Tarletsky, Ya.Skrygan, E.Danilov, A.Otradnov, D.Borisiuk, I.Sirotinsky, Yu.Nekhai, P.Bortnik, A.Voitovich, Ya.Makarich, D.Shafirova etc.)
He is owner of F.Skoryna medal (1991). Has 78 printed works: 5 scientific-researches, 13 educational methodological, 60 creative (author compositions, plays, arrangements of Belarusian folk songs).
V.Zhivalevsky is the author of book “Lute and guitar at Belarusian lands” – researches on history of lute and guitar at Belarusian lands in period from XVI till the beginning of XXI century.
