Library of Belarusian State Academy of Music presents thematic exhibition “Synthesis of science and art as the basis of cultural society”: dedicated to the Day of Belarusian Science (January 28, 2024)
Science and art are the spheres that accompany human development during its existence, their aims are different but together they make harmonic society. Science is systematic research of nature and society, aimed at increase of science and technology influence. Art is creative process that expresses human feelings and emotions, worldview. As science and technologies developed, relationship between art and science has bigger influence on social development. Famous German writer I.Goethe wrote: “Culture equally to obtain new knowledge and technology development. Art is creative process that expresses human feelings and emotions, worldview. Equally art and science are needed. Science must be tightly connected with art to bring people profit and joy, not damage and sorrow. Both scientist and artist recreate world for the main aim which is facification of truth, beauty and kindness”.
Music itself represents a component of art and exists from the moment of world creation as sounds. Today music obtains new species and form that couldn’t be presented earlier thanks to the development of science. As an example: penetration of digitalization into all the spheres of modern life including music sphere. Musicians use computer programming to create their compositions. In musicology it is impossible to avoid such terms as history, sociology, art history, aesthetics, language, nation, ethnos, acoustic. They are inseparable with music science.
The basis of thematic exhibition is represented by fundamental scientific editions (monograph, periodical and series editions), publications of Belarusian musicologists and research of young scientists. There are also presented scientific editions of Belarusian State Academy of Music at the exhibition: scientific-theoretical magazine “News of Belarusian State Academy of Music”, “Scientific works of Belarusian State Academy of Music”, editions of scientific articles, materials of international scientific conferences. Special interest is presented at the exhibition department dedicated to the history of development of Belarusian musicology. The exhibition is supplemented by photographs of famous representatives of Belarusian culture, musicologists who are standing at the origins of creation of Belarusian musical science.
Exposition is presented in the Great hall of educational building №1 (International Street, 30) from January 23 till March 18, 2024.
