On November 13, 2024, Leonid Petrovich Yushkevich, professor of the Department of Special Piano, one of the leading teachers of the Belarusian State Academy of Music, an authoritative musician who made a significant personal contribution to the development and strengthening of the international authority of the Belarusian piano school, passed away.

Since 1962, he has taught at the Belarusian State Conservatory. Associate Professor (since 1977) Head of the Department of Special Piano (1985-1987), Professor (since 1989). From 1981 to 1992, he headed the Piano and Music Composition Faculty.
He has performed solo concerts in Belarus, Russia, China, and European countries. He has stock recordings on Belarusian radio and television. Member of the jury of international, All-Union and republican competitions.
There are over 300 pianists among the pupils of L.P. Yushkevich.

The staff of the Belarusian State Academy of Music mourns the death of L.P.Yushkevich and expresses deep condolences to his family and friends.
