Symphony orchestra of Belarusian State Academy of Music has always played a significant role in creative life of the educational institution. On its basis a big amount of musicians had professional training. The annually join orchestral teams of Belarus and foreign countries.
Orchestra was headed by talented conductors: P.Kirilchenko, V.Mnatsakanov, A.Lapunov, N.Koliadko, P.Vandilovsky, M.Anisimov, A.Galanov, V.Ovodok etc. From 1992 till October 2012 People’s Artist of the Republic of Belarus, Professor M.Kozinets leaded “Young Belarus” formation. Musical priorities and creative credo could be judged based on compositions that form repertoire of orchestra: liturgies and oratories by I.Bach, symphony compositions by W.Mozart, L.Beethoven, I.Brams, Z.Frank, G.Berliosa, K.Debussy, M.Ravel, J.Bizet, G.Rossini, I.Strauss; Russian classics is represented by compositions of P.Tchaikovsky, M.Musorgsky, A.Borodin, S.Rakhmaninov, D.Shostakovich, S.Prokofiev. In musical premieres there are widely represented compositions of Belarusian authors: A.Bogatyrev, E.Glebov, D.Smolsky, A.Mdivani, G.Gorelova, V.Kurian and A.Litvinovsky. Orchestra toured in different cities of Italy, Belgium and island Réunion (France region).
Since 1994 orchestra regularly performed at music festivals in France (“Summer of Big Garden”), Germany (“New Year musical evenings” and Wagner festival). Orchestra plays annual concert cycle in the hall of Belarusian State Philharmonic Society in Minsk and in various Belarusian cities – Brest, Gomel, Mogilev, Molodechno, Vileika. Collaboration with musicians from Germany, France, Russia, Turkey: conductor G.Mais (Germany), J.Kennon (France), performers A.Volodos (baritone), F.Chateau (flute), Ph.Berro (clarinet), Yu.Lekler (piano) etc. became fruitful and interesting. Teachers and students from the Academy of Music performed with orchestra: People’s Artist of the Republic of Belarus I.Olovnikov, Professor V.Schatsky, laureates of international competitions A.Ponochevny, A.Sikorsky, K.Krasnitsky, L.Yanpolskaya etc.
Since October 2012 orchestra was headed by People’s Artist of the Republic of Belarus, Professor A.Anisimov. Orchestra performed in Belarus as well as abroad: on September 19, 2013 performed in the Great hall of Moscow State Conservatory named after P.Tchaikovsky within the frames of project “Parade of symphony orchestras of the CIS countries conservatories to the 150th anniversary of Moscow State Conservatory named after P.Tchaikovsky”.
Since September 2015 orchestra was headed by conductor of the National Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Opera and Ballet of the Republic of Belarus A.Ivanov. Orchestra holds performs in big projects, for example, on October 17, 2017 in Paris within the frames of international project “Cultural diplomacy. Youth musical bridges: Belarus and France. To the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing”. In October-November 2017 conductor A.Ivanov and students performed in master-classes of Youth Belarusian-Russian symphony orchestra in Moscow and Minsk.
Today orchestra is headed by talented conductors N.Makarevich and V.Grischenko.
