The library of the Belarusian State Academy of Music presents a thematic exhibition “Composer Vyacheslav Kuznetsov”: for his 70th anniversary (15.06.1955)

Vyacheslav Kuznetsov is an Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus, holder of the Francysk Skaryna Medal, Professor of the Belarusian State Academy of Music, member of the Union of Composers of Belarus.

Among modern representatives of the Belarusian school of composition, Vyacheslav Kuznetsov is one of the most striking and original authors. His work is marked by the spirit of novelty, a combination of tradition and innovation, a breadth of genre directions. His interests include opera and ballet, oratorio and cantata, symphony and chamber instrumental music, works for voice and choir. In his work, the composer talentedly combined the traditions of the Belarusian music culture of the past with modern writing techniques. Vyacheslav Kuznetsov’s ballets “Macbeth”, “Vitovt” and “Anastasia” were staged on the stage of the Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus. Symphonies, chamber and instrumental works were repeatedly performed on the stages of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society. Kuznetsov’s compositions showed Belarusian culture abroad at leading European festivals of contemporary music in Austria, Belgium, Great Britain, Greece, Spain, Switzerland and other countries.

The composer successfully combines creative and pedagogical work. His students were such remarkable conductors as O. Lesun, V. Larin, V. Ovodok, E. Osnovich, V. Chernikov and many others. The Professor’s students have repeatedly become laureates of prestigious international competitions.

The exhibition presents Vyacheslav Kuznetsov’s printed music, scientific articles by Belarusian musicologists and postgraduate students of the creative composer, interviews with him, as well as compact discs with the composer’s music performed by the State Chamber Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus, the symphony and spiritual orchestra of the Belarusian State Academy of Music and other famous performers.

The exhibition is located in the elevator hall (6th floor) of the educational building No. 3 (P. Brovki St., 22) from May 7 to August 29, 2025.
