He was born on October 11, 1941 in Ivankovo, Perm region.
Since 1966 has worked as a teacher of the Plucked String Percussion Folk Instruments Department of Belarusian State Conservatory named after A.Lunacharsky. From 1980 till 2022 – the Head of the Plucked String Percussion Folk Instruments Department. Teaches Graduate students. Holds classes at the Faculty of Personal Development and Staff Qualification of Belarusian State Academy of Music.
He is a member of Belarusian Union of Theatrical workers (since 1975), Belarusian Union of Musical Workers (1988), member of the Presidium of Union of Musical Workers (1999).
He is laureate of republican competitions (1961, 1963).
Dulcimer player-virtuoso. Toured in Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Austria, Hungary, France, England and Wales, Syria and Jordan, Angola, Mozambique, Madagascar, Mauritius, Australia and New Zealand, Switzerland, Moldavia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Russia, Chuvash, Uzbekistan. He is a participant of the decades of Belarusian Art abroad (Ukraine, Lithuania, Russia), Worldwide congresses of dulcimer players, international and republican festivals in Belarus, Lithuania, Poland etc. He has fund recordings in Belarusian and All-Union radio, television and vinyl.
Since 1966 he has been heading student dulcimer ensemble of Belarus. From 1970 till 1979 headed student Folk Instruments orchestra of Belarusian State Conservatory.
In 1993 in Brno (the Czech Republic) was the first Belarusian dulcimer player to participate in II Worldwide congress of dulcimer players, in 1995 in Bratislava (Slovakia) during the 3rd congress was elected as the member of presidium of World Association of Dulcimer players (CWA). In 1997 organized Association of Belarusian Dulcimer players and became its first Head. That year he organized I republican festival “Silver dulcimer sound” in Minsk that became constantly working creative organ of organized Association of Belarusian Dulcimer players. He initiates and got the permission from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus on holding IV World congress of dulcimer players in 1997 in Mogilev.
In 2020 by the initiative of E.Gladkov was set I republican open dulcimer competition.
He is the head and jury member of various republican, All-Union and international competitions and festivals of folk instruments performers. Holds master classes in Children Music Schools and Secondary Special Educational Institutions of the Republic of Belarus.
For many years of work in Belarusian State Academy of Music more than 200 students went through professional influence of Professor at dulcimer orchestra classes, dulcimer ensemble classes, speciality class and methodology class. He is the author of reports at republican and international scientific-practical conferences on the questions of history, theory and methodology of dulcimer performance.
He has a breast mark from Central committee of professional unions (Moscow, 1975); Certificate of Honor from Supreme Council of BSSR (1975), Certificate from Supreme Council of BSSR (1983); Mark of Honor from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus “For significant personal contribution into development of Belarusian culture” (2001); Anniversary medal from International Union of Musical workers (2007); Diploma from international music prize Belbrand Award (Minsk, 2015), Diploma of the winner of republican competition “Person of the year of Culture” in nomination “Pedagogic activity with creative youth” (2016); laureate title of Special Prizes from the President of the Republic of Belarus for Culture and Art workers (2001, 2011); F.Skoryna Medal (2018).

There were published more than 15 compelled and edited collections of pedagogic and concert repertoire for dulcimer, dulcimer and mixed ensembles and orchestras.
There were compelled and published about 15 educational programmes on special instrument, methods of teaching for Children Music Schools, Secondary Special and Higher Educational Institutions.
Performing editions:
He made more than 100 performing editions of works of small and big forms of Belarusian, Russian and Western-European composers in the process of preparing his own performance and for the work in special class.
He is the author of numerous arrangements, instrumentations for dulcimer solo, for dulcimer with piano, for dulcimer ensembles and orchestra.
