The Sound-Recording Laboratory was established in 2000.
The main tasks of the laboratory are technical support of concert performances, international conferences, educational and creative projects; production of demo materials to assist participation of students in competitions and festivals as well as making audio and video content; processing, editing and publishing of works of Belarusian authors and performers on CDs;.
2002 – a CD-album from the collection “Belarusian State Academy of Music presents” (dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Academy of Music) was released. Performances of talented soloists and creative teams of the Academy were represented on two CDs (sound engineer – Sergei Yurinok).
2007 – a CD-album from the collection “Belarusian State Academy of Music presents” (dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Academy) was released. Six CDs included works performed by students and teachers of the Academy (sound engineer – Sergei Bogdanov).
2012 – a collection of three DVDs (dedicated to the 80th anniversary) was released. The DVD “In the Classrooms of the Academy of Music: Pages of History” is the first release of the anthology “Talents Committed to the People: Our Teachers”. This release contains unique video footage from the 1970s-2012 with vivid music heritage of the most experienced academics who devoted their lives to teaching and performing. The DVD “Grand Concert” is the video recording of the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus, Symphony and Brass Orchestras of the Academy of Music performance in the Great Hall of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society on March 6, 2012. The DVD “Evening of the Conservatory” presents a video recording of the concert performed by the students of the Academy of Music, winners of international competitions, scholarship holders of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus to support talented young people from the Great Hall of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society on April 6, 2011.
2014 – seven CDs of anthology “Works of composers and teachers of the Belarusian State Academy of Music” were realesed. The audio edition includes works by Viktor Voitik, Galina Gorelova, Vladimir Dorokhin, Leonid Zakhlevny, Vladimir Korolchuk, Sergei Kortes, Vyacheslav Kuznetsov, Nikolay Litvin, Andrei Mdivani, Dmitry Smolsky, Oleg Khodosko, Sergei Yankovich, Konstantin Yaskov.
2017 – a collection of video recordings “Belarusian State Academy of Music presents…” (dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Academy of Music) was released. The collection contains recordings of the most eminent concerts and projects of creative groups of the Academy from the previous five years, such as concerts of the Student Symphony Orchestra and Student Choir in the Great Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory, concerts from “Evening of Conservatory” cycle in the Great Hall of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society, creative projects assisted by the Special Fund of the President of the Republic to support talented youth “Dakrananne” and “Students of the Academy of Music – Youth of Belarus”, unique projects of the Opera and Choreography Department – the play “Child and Magic” and the choreography event “Dance Anatomy”.
2023 – the department was renamed into the Media Laboratory.
