The Orchestra Faculty is the largest faculty of the Academy of Music in terms of the number of students, as well as the number of specialties in which training is conducted. Students of the orchestra faculty have already become performing musicians during their student years, performing in educational orchestral groups (Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Wind Instrument Orchestra, Orchestra of Belarusian Folk Instruments, Orchestra of Russian folk Instruments, Orchestra of bayans and accordions, Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra), the Russian-Belarusian orchestra under the direction of Yu.Bashmet and instrumental ensembles of various compositions (the flutist ensemble “Impressions”, the flute ensemble “Nymphs”, the dulcimer ensemble “Lilya”, the saxophone ensemble, BGAM Folk Instrument Ensemble).
The faculty’s staff has achieved high results, bringing up a whole galaxy of talented musicians and performers.
Graduates of the orchestra faculty are in demand in the leading cultural institutions of the Republic of Belarus: the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus, the Honored Collective of the Republic of Belarus “Musical Capella “Sonorus”, the National Academic Folk Choir of the Republic of Belarus named after G.I.Tsitovich, the Honored Collective of the Republic of Belarus “Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater”, the Honored the Collective of the Republic of Belarus “Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus”, The Exemplary Orchestra of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, the National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian State Circus and other creative collectives of the country, as well as music schools and colleges of the Republic.
Since the establishment of the Orchestra Faculty, its deans have been: Professor of the Department of Wind Instruments and Orchestral Conducting, Professor, Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Budkevich Vladimir Vladimirovich; Professor of the Department of Chamber Ensemble, Associate Professor Deduk Larisa Leonidovna; Professor of the Department of Wind Instruments and Orchestral Conducting, Associate Professor Dudarenko Peter Fomich; Professor of the Department of Wind Instruments and Orchestral Conducting, Associate Professor Brichik Ivan Leonidovich; Maxim Nikolaevich Rassokha, Associate Professor of the Department of Woodwind Instruments and the Department of Orchestral Conducting and Instrumentation; Maxim Fomich Shkulepa, Candidate of Art History, Associate Professor of the Department of Wind Instruments and Orchestral Conducting. Since 2024, the Dean of the Orchestra Faculty has been Professor of the Department of Composition, Professor Korolchuk Vladimir Nikolaevich.
The orchestra faculty includes 4 departments:
Department of Stringed Bowed Instruments and Chamber Ensemble.
The Department of Stringed Bowed Instruments was founded in 1932, and the Department of Chamber Ensemble was founded in 1962. In 2024, due to a change in the organizational structure of the Belarusian State Academy of Music, these departments were reorganized into the Department of Stringed Instruments and Chamber Ensemble.
The head of the department is Lyudmila Orlova, PhD in Art History, Associate Professor.
The department trains specialists with higher education in the following specialties (areas of specialties): 7-07-0215-04 “Musical and instrumental art (violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp)”, 1-16 01 04-01 “Stringed bowed instruments (violin)”, 1-16 01 04-02 “Stringed bowed instruments (viola)”, 1-16 01 04-03 “Stringed bowed instruments (cello)”, 1-16 01 04-04 “Stringed bowed instruments (double bass)”.
Department of Wind Instruments and Orchestral Conducting.
In 1968, the Department of Orchestral Conducting and Instrumentation was founded, and in 1989, the Department of Woodwind Instruments and the Department of Brass and Percussion Instruments were founded. In 2024, due to a change in the organizational structure of the Belarusian State Academy of Music, these departments were reorganized into the Department of Wind Instruments and Orchestral Conducting.
The head of the department is Vladimir Pavlovich Skorokhodov, Doctor of Cultural Studies, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Professor, Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus.

The department was founded in 1949.
The head of the department is Lydia Viktorovna Skachko, PhD in Art History, Associate Professor.

Department of Stringed Folk Instruments
The department was founded in 1937.
The head of the department is Veronika Alexandrovna’s great–grandfather, PhD in Art History.
