CHAMBER ORCHESTRA

The Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1969. Each new program, each concert in the life of this young creative group is a unique step toward professional artistic mastery and artistic perfection. Constantly recruiting new musicians from among the students entering the educational institution, the Orchestra maintains a high professional performance level.

The Orchestra’s first director was Professor Vyacheslav Zelenin; in the 1990s, it was led by Valery Soroko. In 1999, it was led by the head of the Orchestral Conducting Department, Associate Professor Pyotr Vandilovsky. Since 2022, the Orchestra has been directed by Nikolai Teran.

The Chamber Orchestra is an academic ensemble, but it regularly performs in concerts across Belarus and abroad, participating in numerous music festivals, including the World Youth Orchestras Festival (Sochi, 2024, artistic director Yury Bashmet) and the International Easter Festival (Minsk).

In 2024, Nikolai Teran received a Grant from the President of the Republic of Belarus in the field of culture. The grant supported the implementation of the creative project “Music. Talents. Co-creation”, a series of joint concert performances by the student Chamber Orchestra of Belarusian State Academy of Music with talented students from regional cultural educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus as soloists.

The Chamber Orchestra is invited to perform at festive and government events, and has hosted conducting master classes in Italy. The ensemble has successfully performed in major halls in Germany, Spain, Finland, the Netherlands, and Belgium. The ensemble’s extensive concert repertoire includes music works from various eras, schools, and movements – from baroque to avant-garde.
