Thematic exhibition “Half a Century in the Service of Professionalism”, marking the 50th anniversary of the Academy’s Center for Continuing Education (1976-2026)

The Library of Belarusian State Academy of Music presents a thematic exhibition, “Half a Century in the Service of Professionalism”, marking the 50th anniversary of the Academy’s Center for Continuing Education (1976-2026).

The Center for Continuing Education for Adults at Belarusian State Academy of Music is one of the oldest units in the Belarusian cultural education system. It has been in existence for 50 years and boasts a long, strong tradition. It was established by Order No. 136 of the Ministry of Culture of the Belarusian SSR on May 4, 1976, initially as The Faculty of Professional Development. It was subsequently (since January 1, 2012) renamed the Professional Development and Staff Retraining Faculty, and, since September 1, 2025, as the Center for Continuing Education for Adults.

The educational process is carried out by the Academys faculty, as well as specialists from other universities in Belarus and neighboring countries.

The first dean of the faculty was Associate Professor B.Sinetsky; in subsequent years, the faculty was headed by Associate Professors V.Fedorchuk, K.Bulygo, and M.Bula. From 2007 to 2014, Professional Development and Staff Retraining Faculty was headed by E.Kurakina (currently Rector of Belarusian State Academy of Music, Associate Professor of the Department of Music Theory). Subsequently, the faculty was led by PhDs in Art History N.Ganul, L.Skachko, I.Komar, and others.

The activities of the Center for Continuing Education for Adults are aimed at ensuring professional development and meeting the needs of directors and teachers of institutions of professional music education at all levels, as well as teachers of humanities institutions (with appropriate qualifications), representatives of concert organizations, and anyone interested in culture and the arts. Professional development and internships are offered in all specialties taught at the Academy.

The exhibition features publications on the history of the center’s creation and development, lectures, and methodological materials on current issues in the theory and history of music, performing arts, music pedagogy, and psychology for students in professional development and retraining courses.

The exhibition will be on display in the reading room (office 210, Academic Building No. 3, 22 P. Brovka Street) from May 5 to May 25, 2026.
