The Library of the Belarusian State Academy of Music presents the exhibition “Mighty Words, Native Words!” dedicated to International Mother Language Day.
International Mother Language Day is celebrated worldwide annually on February 21. This holiday, proclaimed on November 17, 1999, at the 30th session of UNESCO, aims to promote linguistic diversity, support national languages and cultures, preserve national identity and distinctiveness, and ensure the right of every person to use their native language.
Mother Language Day is special for every nation, every people, because there is no nation without a language, no language without its speaker. Language preserves the history, strength, and beauty of folk art. Since time immemorial, our ancestors have created a solid foundation for our statehood, passing it down from generation to generation to their descendants, so that in this vast world we have our own cultural code, our own characteristics, and our own distinctiveness from other peoples.
The exhibition features scholarly, encyclopedic, and reference publications, musicological and scientific articles, printed music, scientific journals, and illustrative materials.
The exhibition will be on display in the foyer of the second floor of Academic Building No. 2 (9 Kommunisticheskaya Street) from February 11 to June 1, 2026.
