А thematic exhibition, “Music Science in the Context of National Culture,” prepared for Belarusian Science Day

The Library of Belarusian State Academy of Music presents a thematic exhibition, “Music Science in the Context of National Culture,” prepared for Belarusian Science Day, celebrated on January 25, 2026.

The music culture of Belarus is a unique phenomenon in the treasury of universal cultural values. It is distinguished by its vibrant originality and national character, encompassing virtually all disciplines—from folk art to the cutting-edge avant-garde. It is a rich resource for the development of Belarusian musicology, folklore studies, and the philosophy of music, with centers for study at the Kondrat Krapiva Institute of Art, Ethnography, and Folklore of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and educational institutions such as Belarusian State Academy of Music and the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, as well as music departments at classical universities, where research is conducted to study and preserve the national music heritage, forming a powerful foundation for scientific and educational activities.

The thematic exhibition is based on scholarly publications from the Belarusian State Academy of Music. It also features fundamental publications from leading centers for the study of Belarusian musical culture, as well as publications by renowned musicologists and young scholars whose research interests encompass the history of folk, church (spiritual), and secular professional music, the development of choral traditions, performance art, distinctive folklore, and interactions with pan-European music processes.

The exhibition will be on display in the elevator lobby on the 6th floor of Academic Building No. 3 (22 P. Brovka Street) from January 23 to April 20, 2026.
