In September 2022, at the initiative of Belarusian State Academy of Music’s management and the Department of Stringed Folk Instruments, a Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra was organized. Such ensembles have a rich history and are popular worldwide.
The Orchestra includes mandolins, mandolas, mandoloncellos, guitars, double bass, grand piano (harpsichord), and flute. Its repertoire includes original works for mandolin and guitar orchestra, arrangements of Baroque and Romantic music, as well as music by contemporary Western European and Belarusian composers. Yaroslav Volosyuk, a renowned musician, domra player, mandolinist, conductor, arranger, and recipient of the Francysk Skaryna Medal, was invited to serve as the orchestra’s artistic director and conductor.
During its first year, the Orchestra performed a variety of programs in the institution’s halls. The ensemble’s engaging program and unique sound were highly appreciated by audiences.
Since September 2023, Dmitry Titov has served as artistic director and conductor.
